Educational institutions in Tiruchi, including Bharathidasan University and A.V.C. College, recently organized rallies and competitions to raise awareness about drug abuse. These events involved students, police, and local organizations to promote a drug-free lifestyle.
Several educational institutions held programmes to raise awareness against drug abuse recently. Of these, the Anti-Drugs Committee in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS), National Cadet Corps (NCC), and Youth Red Cross (YRC) organised a rally on the Bharathidasan University Main Campus. V. Rajesh Kannan, Member of the VC Committee and Syndicate Member of Bharathidasan University, along with B. Jeyapragash, Controller of Examination (in-charge) and P. Vijayakumari, Inspector of Police, Navalpattu All Women Police Station, flagged off the rally. The rally aimed to create awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and to encourage healthy, drug-free lifestyles among youth, parents, and the general public. Over 1,000 persons, including students, teachers, non-teaching staff, research scholars, healthcare workers, social activists, and members of the public, actively took part in the rally. Pamphlets containing educational material and QR code for downloading the Anti-Drug App were distributed. Participants took a pledge against drug abuse, reaffirming their commitment to “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life”.
