Calicut University reconstitutes College Development Council, first meeting on September 11
Calicut University has reconstituted its College Development Council after a 15-year hiatus to improve academic planning and institutional quality. The council includes experts from industry, technology, and higher education to foster better linkages between the university and its colleges.

The University of Calicut has reconstituted the College Development Council, an advisory and strategic planning body that works towards “fostering the planned qualitative growth of affiliated institutions and strengthen the linkage between the university and its affiliated colleges,” as mandated by the University Grants Commission.
University sources claimed on Wednesday (September 9, 2026) that the reconstitution was happening after a gap of 15 years. The Vice-Chancellor (V-C) is its chairperson, and the director of the council is the member secretary. There is one representative of the State government. The member representing the university Syndicate, three experts (one each representing industry, higher education, and technology), two professors from departments on the university campus, and three college principals, the other members, are nominated by the V-C.
