The Comptroller and Auditor General of India in its report for the year ended March 2024, has flagged shortcomings in the implementation of certain schemes in the Union Territory.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Principal Accountant General (Audit-II), Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, Thiruppathi Venkatasamy said the report has been tabled in the Assembly on the last day of the Budget session.

Besides highlighting the shortcomings in the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act and Jal Jeevan Mission in Puducherry, the audit has found lapses in the functioning of certain departments, including the Adi-Dravidar and Scheduled Tribes Welfare.

The CAG in its press handout said the land acquired at a cost of ₹13.46 crore for the Indira Gandhi College of Arts and Science, Puducherry, remained unutilised for over 15 years due to absence of an approach road.
