NEW DELHI: The government on Wednesday gave a one-year extension in service to cabinet secretary TV Somanathan and home secretary Govind Mohan. This is the first such extension for the two key officers at the Centre. Their fixed tenure of two years was coming to an end this month.In an order, the personnel department said the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the extension in service of Somanathan as cabinet secretary for one year beyond Aug 30, 2026.
