Cabinet panel to probe alleged lapses in Jagananna colonies in Andhra Pradesh

The Andhra Pradesh government has formed a committee to investigate alleged corruption and irregularities in the 'Jagananna colonies' housing project initiated by the previous administration. The panel will report on land usage and potential financial mismanagement within 45 days.
Why it matters
This reflects ongoing political accountability efforts and the scrutiny of public infrastructure projects following a change in state leadership.
The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on Wednesday decided to constitute a three-member committee comprising Cabinet Ministers to inquire into alleged irregularities and corruption associated with Jagananna colonies during the previous YSR Congress Party’s (YSRCP) tenure between 2019 and 2024.
The committee will also submit a detailed report within 45 days on restructuring plots allotted to beneficiaries who refused them and suggest ways to best utilise the leftover land in the colonies. It will examine the purchase of land unsuitable for housing and recommend measures for its effective utilisation.
The decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at the Secretariat in Amaravati.
The committee will comprise Housing Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy, Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad and Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar.
