The police are investigating the death of a minor girl, who allegedly ended her life in 2003. Businessman R. Veeramani, 84, also known as Gem Granites Veeramani, has been allegedly linked to the case.
A message sent by one of the accused, Shanthi, to prime accused Veeramani reportedly stated that a child had ended her life because of him. Following this information, City Police Commissioner A. Amalraj formed a special team to investigate the girl’s death.
On Saturday, Veeramani and two others were arrested by the Greater Chennai Police Anti-Vice Squad under the POCSO Act for allegedly sexually exploiting minors.
The police said the case was registered on October 7, 2025, after a pen drive containing a video of a minor girl being sexually assaulted was handed over to an Anti-Vice Squad inspector. Investigation revealed that the man in the video was Veeramani.
