Police in Bushenyi District are investigating the suspected drowning of 77-year-old Nyinesafari Jadrace, a resident of Kijumo II Cell, Kabale Parish, Kakanju Sub-county. She reportedly left her home during the night of 9 June 2026 and could not be traced, until her body was discovered on 10 June at about 5:00 p.m. in a water pond in Kijumo II Cell. Police responded, retrieved the body, processed the scene, and transferred the remains to KIU Teaching Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination. Initial observations showed no visible injuries, and relatives reported that the deceased had battled a mental health condition for around ten years. Investigations are ongoing as Police await the postmortem report to clarify the exact cause and circumstances of death. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and urge members of the public to closely monitor and support vulnerable persons, particularly the elderly, children, people with disabilities, and those living with mental health challenges,” said SP Tayebwa Apollo, Regional Public Relations Officer for Greater Bushenyi.
