Four women were killed and several passengers injured after a private bus carrying a group of villagers to attend a funeral overturned on Ananthagiri ghat road in Vikarabad district, Telangana, on Saturday (October 3, 2026), with brake failure suspected to be the reason for the accident.
The deceased included Yadamma, Padmamma and Pramila. The identity of the fourth woman was not immediately known.
Around 54 passengers from Kesaram village in Patancheru were travelling to Chintakunta village in Dharur mandal to attend a funeral when the accident occurred on the downhill stretch of Ananthagiri Hills.
According to preliminary information, the driver allegedly lost control of the bus while descending the ghat road after its brakes failed. The vehicle veered off its path and overturned.
