Bungie is returning to Destiny to reverse the content vault

Bungie has reversed course on its plans for Destiny, announcing that Destiny 2 will continue to receive updates and that previously removed content will return to the game. The studio had declared an end to Destiny 2’s live development earlier this year, but in a new update, Bungie says Destiny remains foundational to its future and that new games are now in development.

In a new studio update, Bungie leadership confirmed that Destiny 2 will begin “unvaulting” major pieces of content removed over the past several years. This includes the original Red War campaign, Curse of Osiris, Warmind and Forsaken, alongside their associated destinations and raids. The studio says this work will take time due to changes made to Destiny 2’s underlying systems since Beyond Light, but the goal is to restore key parts of the game’s history that players can no longer access today.
