Bulk waste generators in A.P. told to set up on-site processing units
Andhra Pradesh officials are mandating that large-scale waste generators, such as commercial complexes and schools, establish on-site waste processing units. This initiative is part of the 'Swarna Andhra-Swachh Andhra' program to improve urban waste management.

District Collector A. Siri has said that a clean environment is achievable through scientific waste management. She stressed the need for business and commercial complexes in the city to establish their own waste processing plants to handle the waste generated on their premises.
As part of the ‘Swarna Andhra-Swachh Andhra’ programme, the Collector, along with Municipal Commissioner Challa Obulesu, visited a departmental store and raised awareness about the Solid Waste Management Rules-2026. They launched the ‘Bulk Waste Generator’ registration process.
The Collector explained that under the Central government’s Solid Waste Management Rules-2026 and the Swachh Survekshan programme, entities generating over 100 kg of solid waste daily—such as business and commercial complexes, hotels, shopping malls, function halls, and educational institutions—are required to register as ‘Bulk Waste Generators.’
