Building collapses in Anfield live updates as main road closes
A building collapse in Anfield, Liverpool, has resulted in the closure of a main road and emergency service intervention. The upper floor of a local café crumbled onto the street, causing significant debris and traffic disruption.

A main road through Anfield has been blocked by the collapse of a building. Emergency services were called to Townsend Lane at around 1.45pm today, July 15. The above floor of Jovan's Townsend Kitchen, an African café at the junction of Townsend Lane and Empress Road, has crumbled into the road. Pictures taken at the scene by an ECHO photographer show the wall on the building's upper floor has fallen away, leaving bricks, timber and debris scattered across the pavement below. A road closure is currently in place between Lampeter Road and Canon Road, Merseyside Police confirmed.
