Buddhist delegation from Lanka proposes dedicated centre at Telangana’s Buddhavanam
A Buddhist delegation from Sri Lanka has proposed establishing a dedicated center at Telangana’s Buddhavanam to promote Buddhist heritage and tourism. Telangana officials also met with a Bhutanese delegation to discuss strengthening bilateral tourism circuits and cultural collaboration.

A Buddhist delegation from Sri Lanka on Tuesday met Telangana Tourism Special Chief Secretary Vani Prasad and Telangana Tourism Development Corporation (TGTDC) managing director P. Gouthami to discuss ways to strengthen Buddhist cultural and tourism ties between Sri Lanka and Telangana.
Discussions during the meeting also focused on preservation of Buddhist heritage, Buddhist studies and research, and promotion of Buddhist tourism. The delegation proposed establishing a dedicated centre at Buddhavanam for the promotion and study of Buddhist culture, history, philosophy and heritage.
The delegation, led by Venerable Agraheer Kassapa Dhiro, chairman of the Sahanaya Foundation, included Kousalya and Vaibhav. The meeting was held as a courtesy call under the guidance of Buddhavanam Special Officer Mallepalli Lakshmaiah.
