British Heart Foundation closing charity shops amid £3.3m loss

The British Heart Foundation has announced plans to close around 150 charity shops across the UK after rising costs pushed its retail operation into the red.

The charity, which runs a shop in Eign Gate in Hereford which is now earmarked for closure, said the closures are needed to keep its retail network "strong and sustainable" and continue generating money for lifesaving research.

The decision comes after the British Heart Foundation recorded a net loss of £3.3 million from its network of 651 shops during the year to March 2026.
