shares Share article A man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a rookie police officer in Brisbane’s east.

Constable Wesley Thomas had only been on the job for 10 weeks when, despite his injury, he chased the man and used a Taser to stop him, according to the police union boss, who hailed the rookie officer a hero.

Thomas and a 52-year-old senior constable – who was also allegedly slashed in the face – responded to a reported domestic disturbance about 5.10am on Sunday at a house on Bogong Street in Hemmant.

Josey Collins, 35, allegedly injured his father before turning the knife on the first-year constable.
