Why it matters
This result keeps the Padres' postseason hopes alive and forces a pivotal Game 4 in the National League Division Series.
More tense drama and another one-run game in Game 3 of the National League Division Series? Sure, why not?
The problem for the Milwaukee Brewers is that the well-struck ball up the middle in the ninth found a glove this time around.
The Brewers out-hit San Diego and squared up their share of baseballs at Petco Park on Oct. 6, but another defensive miscue scored the winning run in the sixth inning for the Padres, who won the third straight one-run game in the series, 4-3. The Brewers still lead the series, 2-1, but must return to Petco for Game 4 on Wednesday night, Oct. 7.
