Brazil play poorly, but snatch draw with Australia at the death

Brazil did not fare well at all in its first test after the 2026 World Cup and drew 1-1 with Australia in the friendly played this Friday.

Playing on Australian soil, Brazil created little throughout the match, showed defensive lapses, and did not get the individual spark from its attacking talents. Brazil thought it had taken the lead through Estêvão in the first half, but the goal was ruled out by VAR.

Australia were rarely troubled and looked well organized for virtually the entire match. The standout was Irankunda, the young Sporting player who created good chances and scored a stunning free-kick in the 28th minute of the second half.

Brazil tried to pile on the pressure, but only found the equalizer with the last play of the game, in the 49th minute. Rayan got on the end of a corner and glanced a header in to level it.
