Brain Stimulation Centre inaugurated at Lalitha PVS Institute of Medical Sciences in Guntur

The Lalitha PVS Institute of Medical Sciences in Guntur has inaugurated a new Brain Stimulation Centre featuring rTMS therapy for stroke rehabilitation. This facility aims to enhance recovery outcomes by integrating advanced neurological technology with traditional therapy methods.
Why it matters
The introduction of specialized neuro-rehabilitation technology represents a significant advancement in regional healthcare infrastructure for stroke survivors.
Narasaraopet MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu on Sunday (October 11, 2026) inaugurated the Lalitha Brain Stimulation Centre at Lalitha PVS Institute of Medical Sciences in Guntur. The new facility introduces repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) therapy as part of comprehensive stroke rehabilitation services.
It aims to improve recovery and quality of life among stroke survivors and patients with selected neurological disorders through advanced technology and multidisciplinary care, said Dr. P. Vijaya, Head of Department of Neurosciences.
Dr. Vijaya said that non-invasive rTMS procedure uses magnetic pulses to stimulate specific brain regions and modulate neural activity. It may support rehabilitation for selected patients experiencing limb weakness, speech difficulties, spasticity, and certain cognitive impairments. However, it complements conventional rehabilitation rather than replacing physiotherapy, occupational therapy or speech therapy.
