A 14-year-old boy died of injuries after falling from a tree while attempting to retrieve a kite that had become entangled in its branches in Kattupakkam near Poonamallee on May 27. The victim was identified as Madesh of Amman Koil Street in Kattupakkam. The police said he was raised by his aunt Sumithra after losing both his parents. When Madesh climbed the tree to retrieve the kite, he lost his balance and fell. He suffered serious injuries. Family members rushed him to a private hospital in Poonamallee. Later, he was referred to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital for advanced treatment. Madesh died of injuries late on Sunday. The Poonamallee police registered a case.
