BOXING | Battle between BFI chief and general secretary intensifies

The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) is facing internal turmoil as president Ajay Singh suspended secretary general Pramod Kumar following a no-confidence motion. Both parties have accused each other of misconduct and mismanagement, with a decisive vote scheduled for late October.
Why it matters
This leadership crisis threatens the stability and governance of India's national boxing body, potentially impacting athlete training and international representation.
In a retaliatory move, Boxing Federation of India (BFI) president Ajay Singh has suspended secretary general Pramod Kumar, who earlier moved a no-confidence motion against the federation chief, on various grounds.
In a letter issued on Tuesday, Ajay said several enquiries are pending against Pramod, who was earlier served a show-cause notice, “with respect to various acts and financial decisions taken by him.”
“Apart from the lack of cooperation, attempts have been made to destabilise the organisation by issuing directions and notices without authority, intimidate and malign senior officials of the BFI and circulate unsubstantiated allegations across the media,” said the letter.
Ajay barred Pramod from exercising all powers and relieved him from all BFI panels.
