The incident took place at Taldharia within Duttapukur police station area. The deceased has been identified as Sanjoy Samanta (55).
The injured person, whose identity was not immediately known, has been admitted to Barasat Medical College and Hospital.
Police said the cause of the explosion is being investigated.
