Body of man washed away in Bantwal recovered

NDRF personnel have recovered the body of a 48-year-old man who was washed away in a rivulet in Bantwal taluk following heavy rains. Personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Monday recovered the body of a 48-year-old man from Panchakodi in Rayi village of Bantwal taluk, who was washed away in a rivulet on Saturday.
The police suspect that the man slipped into the rivulet while crossing a footbridge near his house around 7.30 p.m. A torch and slippers were found near the spot. Following a search operation, NDRF personnel found the body in Sangabettu, a few metres downstream from where he reportedly slipped.
It continued to rain heavily in the Sullia, Puttur, and Belthangady taluks of Dakshina Kannada on Monday. In the 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on Monday, Dakshina Kannada recorded 48.3 mm of rainfall.
