The body of a 16-year-old boy, who went missing after being swept away by strong waves at Chinnamudaliar Chavadi in Villupuram district on Sunday, was recovered on Monday, following an extensive search operation.

The deceased was identified as V. Sasidharan of Chinnamudaliar Chavadi.

Sasidharan, along with his two friends, N. Pratheesh, 16, and R. Kaushik, 16, all hailing from Chinnamudaliar Chavadi had visited the beach on Sunday. The trio was pulled into the sea while venturing into the water.

Kaushik, who was caught in the waves, was rescued by fishermen. On receiving information, the fishermen and the coastal police launched a search operation, but they could not trace the two boys.
