Bodies of three family members who jumped into Godavari retrieved

Three bodies have been retrieved from the Godavari river near Badava village in West Godavari district on Sunday, a day after a family of four jumped into the river, prompting authorities to conduct search operations.
The deceased have been identified as Namuburu Srinivas, 45, his 16-year-old son, and 12-year-old daughter, while Srinivas’s wife Padmini, 42, survived the suicide bid as she was rescued by the fishermen immediately after she, along with her family members, jumped into the river.
Srinivas sold milk for a living, and his wife Padmini ran a pan shop from their residence in Tanuku, while their son and daughter were still studying.
Yelamanchili Sub-Inspector M. Raj Kumar told The Hindu that the family had resorted to the extreme step due to “financial struggles”, as cited in a suicide note recovered from their residence.
