Why it matters
The collaboration between high-profile international stars and a veteran director highlights the ongoing trend of globalized, high-budget genre filmmaking.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Russell Crowe are set to star in an upcoming sci-fi actioner, Bluefly , it was announced recently. Directed by Nimród Antal ( Predators , Stranger Things ), the film is written by David Frigerio ( Beast , Land of Bad ), William Eubank ( Underwater , The Signal ) and Carlyle Eubank ( Broke , Muzzle ).
Set in Congo, the film tells the story of a grieving UN translator, who is pulled onto a black-ops mission to recover a downed aircraft. “As a Special Operations team pushes upriver through militia-held territory, the recovery becomes a descent — and the closer they get to the craft, the clearer it becomes that they were never meant to bring it home,” shared the makers in a press release.
