‘Blue Eye Samurai’ Season 2 teaser: Mizu takes her revenge to London as Netflix sets 2027 return

Netflix has announced that the second season of the Emmy-winning animated series 'Blue Eye Samurai' will premiere in January 2027. The new season follows the protagonist, Mizu, as she continues her quest for revenge in London while secondary characters navigate political turmoil in Edo-era Japan.
Why it matters
As one of Netflix's most critically acclaimed animated productions, the series represents a significant investment in high-quality, adult-oriented animation for global streaming audiences.
Netflix unveiled the first footage from the Emmy-winning animated series’ second season at Anime NYC, confirming a January 2027 return for Maya Erskine’s vengeful swordswoman. The new season follows Mizu after she sets sail for England at the end of Season 1, pursuing two remaining targets who have ties to her mysterious origins.
Mizu spends much of the footage aboard a ship battling rough seas before eventually reaching England, where her journey takes her into unfamiliar territory. The new season will place the Japanese warrior in London as she encounters new allies, enemies and circumstances that challenge the assumptions she has carried throughout her quest.
