LUCKNOW: A sub-inspector posted at Ghazipur (Indiranagar) police station was found dead inside his locked car in Para on Friday.The deceased was identified as Ajay Kumar (36), a 2020-batch SI posted at Sarvodayanagar police outpost under Ghazipur police station of Lucknow. He was a native of Hapur district.According to police, Kumar had been out of contact with his colleagues since Thursday afternoon. Personnel posted at the outpost made repeated attempts to reach him on the phone, but he did not answer. Concerned over his unexplained absence, police traced the location of his mobile phone, which led them to the Budheshwar-Mohan road under the jurisdiction of Para police station.A police team reached the location and found a car parked on the roadside. Kumar was seen lying unconscious inside the vehicle. As the car was locked from the inside, police video-graphed the scene before breaking a window to unlock the vehicle and pull him out.The officer was shifted to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.Police said no external injury marks were found on the body during the preliminary examination. However, blood was noticed oozing from his nose.A forensic team was called to the spot and the vehicle was examined. Sources said that liquor bottles were also found under the passenger seat of the car. Officials, however, said the exact cause of death would be established only after forensic examination and the post-mortem examination report.Sources said Kumar had left Ghazipur police station on Thursday in connection with an investigation and had not returned thereafter.
