Blockhouse Bay stabbing victim named as Star Fetu Peretiso Sami
Star Fetu Peretiso Sami, a 21-year-old former rugby standout, has been identified as the victim of a fatal stabbing in Auckland's Blockhouse Bay. Police are conducting a homicide investigation and have clarified that the incident was not gang-related.

The 21-year-old man fatally stabbed during a confrontation in Auckland’s Blockhouse Bay last month can now be named as Star Fetu Peretiso Sami.
Sami was a member of the Rebels gang, but police have said there is no evidence his death was gang-motivated.
An interim order preventing publication of his name and gang affiliation was revoked at midday today after the coroner declined his whānau’s application for further non-publication orders.
Police launched a homicide investigation after Sami was stabbed during an afternoon altercation on Holbrook St on August 22.
He left the area in a vehicle with associates before stopping near a bus stop on Blockhouse Bay Rd, police said.
An ambulance was called and Sami was taken in a critical condition to Auckland City Hospital.
He underwent emergency surgery and remained in intensive care, but died the following evening.
