BJP workers petition Kerala president over alleged election fund misappropriation in Assembly polls

The internal rift within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regarding the alleged misappropriation of election funds has intensified with party workers filing a formal complaint against the Kollam East District Committee leadership. The complaint has been submitted to BJP State president Rajeev Chandrasekhar, alleging massive financial irregularities during the recent Assembly election campaign.

According to the complaint, the district leadership deliberately misled the State leadership by projecting the Kunnathur Assembly constituency as an ‘A-Class’ constituency solely to secure higher funding for personal financial gains. The workers alleged that the financial statements presented by the leadership are completely fraudulent, pointing out instances where up to ₹28,000 was claimed to have been distributed for campaign activities in booths that managed to secure a mere 25 votes. Furthermore, the petition states that funds were shown as distributed even to booths where the BJP does not have an active booth committee.
