The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a massive protest to reclaim temple properties following a thorough investigation, said Nainar Nagenthran, the party’s Tamil Nadu president, on Friday.
Mr. Nagenthran told the media in Coimbatore that land titles were issued hastily for 3,085 acres belonging to four temples under the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department in Karur district on a single day based on the recommendations of the district Collector and the Joint Commissioner of the HR & CE Department. He raised doubts regarding the basis on which the titles were granted. Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay and the HR&CE Minister should provide an explanation for this move.
