Alleging that the Congress government had disrespected Vande Mataram by limiting its rendition to two stanzas, members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a protest in Hubballi on Thursday.

BJP workers and leaders from the Hubballi-Dharwad East Assembly constituency took out a procession from the Tuluja Bhavani Temple to the Mini Vidhana Soudha. The protesters raised slogans against the State government and demanded that Vande Mataram be sung in its entirety at official programmes.

The protestors alleged that restricting the national song to two stanzas amounted to disrespecting the song and demanded action against the Congress government for not allowing its full rendition.
