BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran has criticized the Tamil Nadu government led by the TVK party following a sexual assault case in Gummidipoondi. He alleged administrative failure and deteriorating law and order under Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.
Why it matters
This reflects the ongoing political friction between opposition parties and the ruling government regarding public safety and governance standards.
BJP State unit president Nainar Nagenthran on Thursday (October 8, 2026) criticised the TVK-led government and the Tamil Nadu police over a reported incident of sexual assault on a five-year-old child in Gummidipoondi. Expressing shock and angst over the incident, he said such crimes were recurring and that the law-and-order situation in the State was deteriorating under the TVK-led government.
In a social media post, Mr. Nagenthran charged that people were forced to nab the culprits on their own due to the inefficiency of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay. The BJP leader further alleged that the TVK-led government’s “administrative debacles and inexperience” were the primary reasons for such incidents.
