The statement underscores the intense political polarization and the role of federal agencies in Indian state-level electoral competition.
Congress MP and Telangana Congress Disciplinary Committee Chairman Dr. Mallu Ravi on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of undermining democratic institutions and misusing Central investigative agencies for political gains.
Speaking at Gandhi Bhavan, Dr. Ravi alleged that the BJP came to power in West Bengal through “undemocratic means” and abused its authority by using agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for political purposes.
Referring to protests by the Gen Z community, he claimed that police action against the protesters resembled the treatment meted out to freedom fighters during the British era, when lathis were used to suppress dissent.
