Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president T. Jagga Reddy accused the BJP and its affiliated organisations of deliberately ill-treating Dalits while misrepresenting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s remarks to portray him as anti-Dalit.

The Congress leader accused the BJP of hypocrisy and said the party had historically treated leaders from marginalised communities differently. Referring to the removal of Bangaru Laxman as BJP national president, he said it never encouraged Dalits, unlike the Congress.

“Such an approach does not exist in Rahul Gandhi’s family or in the Congress,” Mr. Jagga Reddy said at a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday. He extensively spoke on how AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge was ‘insulted’ with the purification of the venue of the public meeting he participated in Uttarakhand.
