Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Wednesday called upon people, particularly the youth, to hoist the national flag in every village and educational institution across the State on September 17, sing Vande Mataram and the Jana Gana Mana in full, and pay tributes to the martyrs of the Telangana liberation struggle.

He said that once the BJP comes to power in Telangana, the history of the September 17 liberation movement would be incorporated into school textbooks and passed on to future generations. He also demanded that the State government officially declare September 17 as ‘Telangana Liberation Day’.

Addressing a meeting at the martyrs’ memorial in Parkal, Mr. Rao accused the BRS, Congress and AIMIM of attempting to erase the history of Telangana’s liberation. However, he asserted that the memories and legacy of the struggle would remain alive as long as the BJP continued its efforts to preserve them.
