Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday (September 1, 2026) met Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov at the party headquarters, a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit.
“The interaction focused on the long-standing and time-tested India-Russia relationship. Mr. Nabin highlighted the strong personal understanding and trust between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Vladimir Putin, noting that their regular high-level interactions have provided sustained momentum to bilateral relations,” the BJP said in a statement.
Mr. Nabin also appreciated Mr. Alipov’s long association with India and his contribution to strengthening ties between the two countries.
