BJP alleges unscientific construction of canal on Thrissur’s Kuruppam Road

This highlights local political friction regarding urban infrastructure development and the impact of municipal projects on small business operations.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday staged a protest against what it described as the “unscientific” canal construction being carried out on Kuruppam Road, one of the busiest roads in Thrissur city. They placed a wreath on the canal.
Inaugurating the protest, Raghunath C. Menon, BJP mandalam president and leader of the BJP parliamentary party in the Thrissur Corporation Council, alleged that the previous Left Democratic Front’s (LDF) council had kept Kuruppam Road and Koorkenchery Road closed for more than six months in the name of construction, despite strong objections from BJP councillors.
