BIS holds awareness meet for MSMEs
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) held an awareness meeting for MSMEs in Tiruchi to discuss quality certification and licensing. The session emphasized the benefits of the ISI mark for market competitiveness and participation in government e-marketplaces.

Micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Tiruchi were briefed about Indian standards, quality control orders and BIS licensing procedures, with special focus on major product categories such as furniture, electronics and other engineering products, during an awareness meet held in the city on Monday.
The meet was organised by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Coimbatore Branch Office, to sensitise MSMEs on the importance of standardisation and quality certification for enhancing competitiveness and consumer confidence.
The importance of obtaining BIS licence / ISI Mark and its benefits, including enhanced product credibility, market acceptance, compliance with mandatory quality control orders, and enabling business opportunities through Government e-Marketplace (GeM), were explained to the participants.
BIS officials said BIS certification was a key enabler for MSMEs to participate in GeM tenders and expand their market reach.
