BIS conducts search and seizure at Mysuru jewellery shop

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) conducted a search and seizure operation at a jewellery establishment in Lashkar Mohalla here on September 16 and seized around 430 grams of gold ornaments that did not bear the mandatory Hallmark Unique Identification (HUID) markings.

According to an official statement, the operation was conducted at Pratibha Jewels as part of BIS’s enforcement activities against the misuse of the BIS Standard Mark and violations of hallmarking regulations.

The absence of HUID markings constituted a violation of the provisions and regulations under the BIS Act, 2016. Based on the findings, legal proceedings under the Act are being initiated against the concerned party, the statement said.
