Politicians, officers and intellectuals recalled the contributions of former Chief Minister D. Devaraj Urs at a programme organised to celebrate his 111th birth anniversary in Shivamogga on Thursday.
C.S. Chandrabhoopal, president of the Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority, Shivamogga district, said Urs’s contributions to society would remain forever. The policy of ensuring land to the tiller was historic, he said, and brought about significant change in the lives of lakhs of people. Urs gave voice to the voiceless and ensured social justice for the deprived sections of society, he said.
