Bills release new alternate "Nickel City" uniform - NBC Sports

The Buffalo Bills have unveiled a new 'Nickel City' alternate uniform featuring a gray color scheme and the removal of the team's iconic buffalo logo. The move has drawn criticism from sports commentators who view it as a cynical marketing ploy that ignores the team's historical branding.
Why it matters
It highlights the ongoing tension between professional sports teams' commercialization efforts and the preservation of traditional team identities.
The Nikefication of the NFL has continued with a new alternate Bills uniform .
The “Nickel City” combo features a gray jersey and gray pants, along with a buffalo-free helmet that has distinct spring-football vibes. (It actually looks like the product of a make-your-own-uniform option in Madden gone wrong.)
The uniform was inspired by the Buffalo nickel, which was minted from 1913 through 1938. It featured a bison on one side. Which makes the decision to remove the buffalo from the helmet even more confusing.
But it makes plenty of sense to base the uniform on a unit of money, because it’s just another money grab. Yes, for more than a few nickels, fans can buy yet another Bills jersey.
