Microsoft founder Bill Gates has pushed back against the growing calls for an AI ‘Kill Switch’, arguing that the discussion misses the more immediate dangers posed by artificial intelligence and reflects a misunderstanding of how current systems operate. Speaking in an interview with NBC News, Gates said AI systems remain under human control and are not yet capable of autonomously taking over computer networks or operating independently without oversight. “The kill switches, that's kind of a weird thing. It's not enough to have a kill switch,” Gates said.
