Bihar CM urges Ministers, Legislators to use AI extensively for development, outreach

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has urged state ministers and legislators to integrate Artificial Intelligence into governance and development projects. He emphasized the need for digital literacy among staff to improve transparency and public outreach.
Why it matters
This reflects a growing trend of state-level governments in India attempting to modernize administrative workflows and public service delivery through AI adoption.
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Thursday (August 6, 2026) urged Ministers and legislators to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technology extensively for “better public outreach and balanced development” in their respective constituencies.
“All Ministers and legislators should use AI and digital technologies extensively for better public outreach and for ensuring balanced development in their constituencies or areas,” the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said, addressing a State government event on ‘AI awareness and Chief Minister’s Area Development Scheme orientation programme for Bihar legislators’ at the Bihar Assembly complex in Patna.
“AI should be used in preparing estimates for development projects,” he added.
“The Bihar government is already using AI in implementing welfare programmes, and is in the process of providing ration cards to nearly one crore eligible beneficiaries,” Mr. Choudhary said, adding that “a digital survey of farmers is also underway in the State”.
