Bihar cabinet gives nod to fill up 22,981 posts of Anganwadi workers
The Bihar cabinet has approved the recruitment of over 22,000 Anganwadi workers and helpers to support child development services in the state. Additionally, the government authorized the creation of new judicial posts to expedite cases related to the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act.

The Bihar cabinet on Wednesday (July 29, 2026) gave its nod to fill up the 22,891 posts of Anganwadi Worker/Helper under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) in the State.
It was among 24 decisions taken at today’s Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.
The Cabinet approved “Anganwadi Worker/Helper Selection Guidelines- 2026”, which will initiate the process to fill the total 22,891 vacant posts, comprising 6,141 Anganwadi Workers and 16,750 Anganwadi Helpers, the Cabinet Secretariat Department’s Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Arvind Kumar Chaudhary told reporters in a post-Cabinet briefing.
Under the ICDS scheme, children up to six years of age, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and other beneficiaries are provided with supplementary nutrition, pre-school education, health check-ups, referral services, immunisation, and nutrition & health education through Anganwadi Centres.
