Big Red Bash organisers say 2027 is final year of the Birdsville festival
Organizers have announced that the 2027 Big Red Bash in Birdsville will be the final iteration of the long-running outback music festival. The decision follows years of challenges, including repeated flooding of the event site.
Why it matters
The festival is a significant tourism driver for remote Queensland, and its closure marks the end of a major cultural event in the Australian outback.

The Big Red Bash will be held one last time in Birdsville in 2027.
The outback festival has been a major tourism drawcard for 13 years.
The festival site is still underwater, but organisers are confident the site will be dry by mid next year.
