BIEAP workshop aims to shift focus from rote learning to analytical thinking
The Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh, has launched a training workshop to shift the focus of examinations from rote learning to analytical thinking. The initiative aligns state education standards with the national education policy through competency-based assessments.

Controller of Examinations in the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh, (BIEAP) A. Simon Victor on Tuesday (September 8, 2026) said that comprehensive changes were being introduced in Intermediate examination question papers in line with the evolving national education policy.
He was speaking at the inaugural session of a four-day residential training workshop, organised by the BIEAP on “HPC Secondary Stage, PARAKH Taxonomy and Development of an ITMS (Integrated Time Management System) Competency-Based Question Bank,” being conducted with the support of the National Assessment Centre PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development) -- NCERT, at Andhra Loyola College in Vijayawada.
Mr. Victor said that instead of focusing merely on students’ ability to memorise and reproduce information, the new question papers would be designed to assess creativity, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
