BHEL Tiruchi organized a cancer screening camp for women as part of Pink October awareness initiatives. The event included health screenings, a poster exhibition, and an awareness rally to promote early detection of breast, cervical, and oral cancers.
Why it matters
Promoting early cancer detection through workplace health initiatives can significantly improve survival rates and reduce the long-term burden of disease.
A cancer screening camp was organised for women at the Community Health Services of BHEL Tiruchi’s Main Hospital on Wednesday as part of Pink October activities to promote breast cancer prevention, early detection, and research.
In his inaugural address, K. Ashok, executive director, BHEL Tiruchi Complex, said that Pink October was a critical call to action to raise awareness of breast cancer. Women must prioritise their health and utilise the camp’s screening programme as early detection could improve survival rates.
He also inaugurated a poster exhibition by the hospital’s paramedical staff on cancer awareness and felicitated a few cancer survivors.
Family members of BHEL employees underwent screening for breast, cervical and oral cancer as part of the camp.
