Beypore fishing harbour renovation enters final phase
The Beypore fishing harbour is nearing the completion of a renovation project aimed at upgrading infrastructure like auction halls and drainage systems. The project, costing ₹1.4 crore, seeks to improve operational efficiency for local fisherfolk, though a planned water connection remains delayed.

The renovation and modernisation of the Beypore fishing harbour has entered its final phase, with the authorities aiming to complete the works before fishing activity resumes later this week following the end of the annual trawling ban.
The project includes a comprehensive upgrade of auction halls, wharfs, parking areas, and other key infrastructure to ensure that the harbour is fully operational when fishing vessels return to sea.
At the old wharf, the foundation of the auction hall has been completely concreted. At the new wharf, damaged floor tiles in the auction hall have been removed and are being replaced with granite flooring. Repair works are also underway at the 95-metre-long and 12-metre-wide auction hall on the new wharf.
