Bengaluru: Woman detained for ‘stealing’ BMTC conductor’s bag on bus; viral video triggers police action

A woman was detained after she was allegedly caught stealing a BMTC conductor’s duty bag on a moving Bengaluru city bus, with a video of the incident going viral on social media.

The incident took place on Wednesday on a BMTC bus operating from Banavara to K.R. Puram. The bus was driven by Dinesh Kumar while Naveen Kumar R. was on duty as the conductor.

According to BMTC officials, the woman allegedly boarded the bus as a passenger and, while the conductor was distracted, removed his duty bag containing his ticket book, ID documents and cash collection before concealing it inside her own bag.

The conductor soon noticed that his bag was missing and confronted the woman. When she allegedly attempted to get off the bus, fellow passengers and the bus crew became suspicious and alerted the police.
