Bengaluru street vendor Ningamma finds mention in PM’s Mann Ki Baat

T.S. Ningamma, a street vendor from Bengaluru, was mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 137th episode of his monthly radio programme, Mann Ki Baat, for how support under the PM SVANidhi scheme helped her expand her small food business.
The Prime Minister said Ms. Ningamma and her husband had started a small business of selling idli, dosa and sambar. While the business began to do well, the couple needed additional funds to expand it. “Ms. Ningamma subsequently received financial support under the PM SVANidhi scheme. With the additional capital, she made improvements to the business, began purchasing ingredients in bulk and expanded her menu by adding new items,” Mr. Modi said, adding that these changes helped bring in more customers, increased her earnings and improved the family’s financial condition.
