Bengaluru receives India’s first tariff-free shipment of Scottish salmon under UK trade pact
Bengaluru has received its first tariff-free shipment of Scottish salmon following the implementation of the U.K.–India Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement. The deal eliminates a 33% import tariff, aiming to increase trade and make premium seafood more accessible to Indian consumers.

Bengaluru on Friday received the first tariff-free shipment of Scottish salmon to India under the U.K.–India Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), marking one of the earliest commercial outcomes of the trade pact and underscoring the new business opportunities it has created for both countries.
The British Deputy High Commission in Bengaluru welcomed the consignment just two weeks after the U.K.–India CETA came into force on July 15. Owen Richards, Deputy Head of Mission at the British Deputy High Commission in Bengaluru, formally received the shipment by opening the first consignment at the premises of Sashimi Foods Private Limited in Bengaluru.
The consignment comprised fresh farmed Scottish salmon produced by Bakkafrost Scotland and imported by Bengaluru-based Sashimi Foods Private Ltd, one of the leading seafood companies.
